Food becomes special when it is made with care, curiosity, and connection. Every recipe carries a memory, and every meal brings people closer.
We believe cooking honors the past while welcoming new ideas. Some dishes come from past generations. Others are found by accident on a quiet afternoon. Each recipe shows the beauty of trying, learning, laughing, and sometimes failing. These moments shape our stories and the memories we cherish.

Cindy

Cooking has always been more than just preparing a meal for me—it is a way of remembering, connecting, and bringing people together. My love for cooking began at home, learning from my mother and watching the women in my family turn simple ingredients into meals filled with love. Over the years, I’ve continued learning from everyone I meet, because I believe every cook has a story, a technique, or a recipe worth sharing.
My experience in catering has given me the opportunity to cook for all kinds of people and occasions, from family gatherings to special events. I’ve learned that some of the most meaningful moments happen around a table, where food becomes the center of conversation, laughter, celebration, and connection.
I’m passionate about preserving those moments through food. To me, every recipe has the potential to stir a memory—a grandmother’s kitchen, a mother’s Sunday dinner, a holiday spent with family, or a simple meal shared with friends. Food has a beautiful way of bringing families closer, reconnecting us with the people and places we love, and even making friends out of strangers.
That is what cooking means to me. It isn’t about making the fanciest meal or following every recipe perfectly. It is about the stories behind the food, the people gathered around the table, and the memories we create together.
Food brings us together. Every dish tells a story. And every meal has the power to stir a memory.
Hans

I’m Hans Kahl, co‑founder and part of the behind‑the‑scenes crew at Stirring Memories. I’m a retired military veteran with a long history in restaurant management, and some of my best moments have always happened in the kitchen or around a crowded table.
I’ve always loved to cook, but what really excites me is creating new dishes, tweaking old favorites, and experimenting until something delicious finally comes together. Sometimes it’s perfect on the first try, sometimes it needs a return trip to the stove—but that trial‑and‑error is part of the joy.
My true specialty, though, is BBQ and smoked meats. There’s nothing quite like tending a smoker, playing with rubs and sauces, and letting time and smoke work their slow magic. Growing up in the Deep South, BBQ wasn’t just food—it was part of life. You could say it’s in my blood.
Most days, you’ll find me working quietly behind the scenes at Stirring Memories, helping shape ideas, testing recipes, and taking on one of the most demanding roles on the team: taste tester. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it—and I’m more than happy to volunteer. I’ve even earned the title of “a pretty good fork,” which I accept proudly.
For me, food is about more than flavor. It’s about the people gathered around the table, the stories shared while something simmers, and those familiar smells that carry us back to another time. That’s what Stirring Memories is all about—preserving the stories behind the recipes.
I’m not here to be a world‑class chef. I’m here because I love good food, good stories, and the memories that connect them.
Julie Anne

My name is Julie Anne, and I play an administrative role with Stirring Memories.
Over the years, I’ve learned that cooking is so much more than the act of preparing a meal. For me, it represents a way of approaching life with an open heart and an open mind. Cooking encourages us to try new things, embrace mistakes, learn from others, and allow every ingredient to share its own story.
I believe the most meaningful cooking happens when curiosity and love guide the process. A recipe can offer direction, but it’s our willingness to explore and personalize that truly brings a dish to life. When we cook with intention, we create food that reflects our experiences, our creativity, and the care we want to share with others.
Cooking also has a beautiful way of connecting us to our memories, our culture, our families, and to one another. A familiar aroma can transport us back to childhood, while a traditional dish can remind us of where we come from. Preparing and sharing food encourages us to slow down, appreciate the simple moments, and welcome new experiences to the table. It becomes a space where stories are shared, laughter is exchanged, and relationships grow stronger.
When we prepare food with a good heart and a thoughtful mind, we infuse every bite with warmth and love. The care we put into a meal becomes part of the experience for those who enjoy it. Cooking with kindness ensures that family and friends feel the comfort, connection, and affection woven into every step of the preparation.
To me, cooking is an act of love—one that nourishes both body and spirit.
Mark

I’ve been a business owner for more than ten years, and I genuinely enjoy collaborating on new ventures and creative ideas. But one of the places where I feel most connected—to people, to memories, and to the moment—is in the kitchen or standing over a hot grill.
I’ve always believed that good food is about far more than what ends up on the plate. It’s the laughter that fills the room, the stories that surface while everyone eats, and the memories that quietly settle in as people gather around a shared meal. Food has this incredible ability to bring people closer, to turn an ordinary evening into something meaningful.
Cooking, for me, is a hands‑on way of creating those moments. I love firing up the BBQ and experimenting with whatever inspires me that day. Steaks, carne asada, marinades that start as a simple idea and turn into something unforgettable—those are the dishes that make me happiest. I enjoy playing with different sauces, flavors, and combinations, seeing how a small twist can transform a familiar recipe into something new. There’s something almost meditative about it: the heat of the grill, the smell of the smoke, the rhythm of turning, seasoning, tasting, adjusting.
Whether it’s a casual family dinner or a gathering of friends, I’ve learned that the best meals aren’t just cooked—they’re shared. They’re built from curiosity, care, and the desire to make people feel welcome.
For me, life is best savored with an open heart, good company, and something delicious to bring everyone together.

I am a creative director with a lifelong passion for storytelling in all its forms. My work blends photography, social networking, SEO (Search Engine Optimization) strategy, and content creation into one expressive craft. Whether I’m behind the camera capturing the quiet beauty of everyday moments or shaping a digital narrative that brings people together, my focus is always on connection, clarity, and creativity.
For more than 20 years, I’ve guided brands across British Columbia, Alberta, and Washington State, building a reputation for thoughtful visual style, strong audience awareness, and an instinct for what resonates online. I’ve always believed that creativity is most powerful when it feels personal, accessible, and rooted in real life. That belief is at the heart of my newest adventure, Stirring Memories—a cooking project dedicated to the dishes that shaped family kitchens.
For me, food is another form of storytelling. Every recipe carries history, emotion, and a sense of place. Through photography, video, and carefully crafted content, I bring those stories forward with warmth and intention. My SEO experience ensures each piece reaches the people who will love it most, while my social networking skills help build a community around shared nostalgia and simple, meaningful cooking.
Stirring Memories is more than a project. It is my creative home—a place where my love for imagery, connection, and storytelling comes together to celebrate food, family, and the memories that stay with us.
Dave

I’ve spent my entire career working with computers, building websites, and helping people bring their ideas to life online. Technology has always been second nature to me, and over the past 40 years I’ve had the privilege of watching the digital world evolve while continuing to do what I love most—designing clean, functional, and meaningful web experiences. As a web designer by trade, I’ve dedicated my life to understanding how people interact with information and how thoughtful design can make those interactions smoother, more enjoyable, and more human.
Alongside my passion for technology, I’ve always loved to cook. The kitchen has been my creative escape, a place where I can experiment, unwind, and connect with others through food. So when the opportunity arose to work with a group of like‑minded friends who share that same love for cooking, I didn’t hesitate. Stirring Memories became the perfect blend of my two worlds: the technical craft I’ve honed for decades and the culinary joy that has always been part of my life.
Today, I look after the Stirring Memories website, ensuring it runs smoothly, looks beautiful, and continues to grow into a welcoming space for home cooks, food lovers, and anyone who believes in the power of shared recipes. Being part of this project allows me to combine my lifelong expertise with something that brings me genuine happiness. It’s a collaboration built on friendship, creativity, and the simple joy of good food—and I’m grateful to be a part of it.
