Comfort Potato & Mushroom Gratin
Comfort potato and mushroom gratin is the kind of cozy, oven‑baked dish that transforms simple ingredients into something rich, earthy, and deeply satisfying, with tender layers of potatoes and savory mushrooms nestled beneath a creamy, golden crust. Its origins trace back to classic French gratins—especially gratin dauphinois—where thinly sliced potatoes were baked with cream to create a luxurious yet humble dish. Over time, cooks began adding mushrooms for extra depth and warmth, turning this rustic French staple into a comforting favorite perfect for chilly evenings and family gatherings.
