Easy Holiday Eggnog
Creating a memory is part of the holiday spirit but creating a drink that stirs a memory that has spirt is another level.Eggnog isn't really about the eggs, milk, or nutmeg. It's about that one glass you have every year that somehow tastes like Holidays you remember, people you miss, and family gatherings you wouldn't trade for anything. Growing up with milk man delivery service a good tasting eggnog reminds me of the holidays a bottle of eggnog being delivered with our milk delivery. Mom treated it like gold. Now that I am an adult and can cook i wanted to put that tasty memory to paper. I hope my creation would make mom proud.I will share other eggnog recipe creations I concocted for different holidays. Different flavors, colors, sweetness levels and even a spicy sweet. The drinks all share this basic recipe. so drink up and give me some feedback on the recipe or share with me your idea for variations.

- Separate the eggs. You only need the yolks. Save the whites for something responsible, or put them in the refrigerator until you forget why they're there.2. Whisk the yolks and sugar. Beat them together until the mixture becomes lighter, creamy, and slightly fluffy. Congratulations—you've already accomplished more than most people at a holiday party.3. Warm things up. In a saucepan, combine the milk, cream, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt. Heat over medium heat until it's hot and steamy, but don't let it boil. We're making eggnog, not scrambled-egg soup.4. Don't scramble the eggs. Slowly—slowly!—whisk about a cup of the hot milk mixture into the egg yolks. Then pour everything back into the saucepan while stirring.5. This little maneuver is called tempering. Calling it that makes us sound like we know what we're doing.6. Cook until creamy. Cook over low-to-medium heat, stirring constantly, until the eggnog thickens slightly and reaches 160°F. It should lightly coat the back of a spoon.7. Add the good stuff. Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla. 8. Let it cool, then refrigerate until nice and cold.9. For an adults-only version, add a splash of bourbon, rum, or brandy to individual glasses. How large a "splash" is can become a family discussion.
Optional for less than grown-ups: a few extra ingredients that are more kid friendly like a table spoon of your favorite instant pudding for color and flavor. don’t forget a touch of whipped cream on top
Notes
Serve It Up: Pour into glasses, sprinkle a little nutmeg on top, and serve cold.
Then stand back and proudly announce: "Yes, I made the eggnog." There's absolutely no reason to tell anyone how easy it was.
