Auntie Linda’s Pineapple Dessert
Auntie Linda’s Pineapple Dessert wasn’t just a treat—it was an event. Every Sunday, right when the sun dipped low enough to paint the kitchen gold, she’d appear with her glass dish wrapped in a floral towel like it was a newborn. The moment she lifted the cover, the whole room filled with the warm, tropical perfume of caramelized pineapple.Kids swarmed first, adults pretended not to, and Auntie Linda just stood there grinning like she’d orchestrated the chaos. The magic wasn’t only in the dessert’s perfect balance of sweet and tangy—it was in the way she made everyone feel like they were part of something special. Even the quiet cousins laughed louder, and the grumpy uncles softened around the edges. One Sunday, as the dish was scraped clean and the room hummed with happy chatter, Auntie Linda winked and said, “It’s not the pineapple that makes it good. It’s the people who show up for it.”And somehow, that made the dessert taste even sweeter.
